•After wrapping up our other moving issues Saturday morning, we headed out for Jacksonville about 12:30pm, where we had bodies already scheduled and lined up to assist us with the moving of our remaining furniture.
◦Please note that this Budget Rental site has advertised hours of Saturday operation from 8:00am – 4:00pm
•We immediately called the new pickup location, A & J Auto Repair, where we spoke with a man who informed us that he did have our truck ready and that it needed to be picked up by the time he closed…at 2:00pm.
•We now live in Tallahassee, Florida and chose to rent the truck from Budget in Jacksonville because it was more cost-efficient than renting and returning locally.
•At approximately 1:15pm, out of shear boredom from the car drive, my wife just so happened to check her email on her phone. It was at this point she realized that she had an email from Budget. The subject line of this email was “Your Budget Truck Rental”. Fortunately for everyone involved, my wife actually read the details of the email, where, thankfully, she realized that our pickup location now differed from what we had programmed into our GPS. The email, which was received at 8:40am Saturday, stated that our pickup location was in Orange Park, FL, not Jacksonville, FL. This obviously caused immediate concern since we had no idea where Orange Park, FL was.
◦This was integral since we needed a place that stayed open later so we could handle our other moving issues Saturday morning and then drive to Jacksonville to get the rest of our furniture. This was a very intricately planned out trip with multiple moving parts.
•We chose this particular location, Budget of Downtown Jacksonville, for a couple of reasons, but most importantly, because it stayed open until 4:00pm.
Long story short...Budget did not allow us to rent a truck from them that day.
•We informed the gentleman that we were currently on the way to Jacksonville from Tallahassee and that our estimated time of arrival would be around 3:00pm, whereby he then told us that he would be closed and the truck would no longer be available. We explained the situation to him. He truly seemed to not care whether Budget had dropped the ball or not and did not offer a plausible solution. Obviously being extremely dissatisfied with his response, we asked for the number to Budget Customer Service. He told us it was 1-800-GOBUDGET and hung up the phone on us.
The bullet-point details surrounding our experience with Budget this past weekend are described below:
•One 12’ Moving Truck was reserved for pickup at Budget of Downtown Jacksonville, 1515 Prudential Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32207. This reservation was made on July 15, 2016.
◦We planned on arriving at Budget of Downtown Jacksonville by 3:00pm…in plenty of time to acquire the Budget rental truck so we could meet our moving party by 4:00pm.
Good work and guaranteed -- We have worked with A&J Auto a few times for repair and the work was completed in a timely manner. It was correct and they didn't over charge us. They came highly recommended from my boss who has done business with them well over a decade. I would recommend them to anyone. They do get busy sometimes and it takes a few days to get in but that's not always the case.
WE WILL NEVER GIVE OUR BUSINESS TO BUDGET AGAIN!!!
I have been going to A&J auto for 13 years. I've never been disappointed in my service. Jerry is honest and I trust him in all things relating to my car. I've purchased 3 vehicles from him also for various family members and they have always been a wonderful value for what I've paid and lasted along time.
Horrible experience all around. They had my car almost a whole month over a steering problem. Was constantly being told it should be ready but to no avail. Got 1 phone call over the course of the whole month to let me know what's going on. When I finally picked up my car the steering wheel was left unaligned at a 45 degree angle. Job wasn't complete. When I told the owner about what happened, instead of taking responsibility, he denied knowing it was given back to me this way. He said I could come Friday and it would be done in a few hours. I brought the car to him and was told it wouldn't get done till the next day and it was only noon. I'm extremely un pleased with the service all around. The worst customer service skills of any business I have EVER dealt with. I don't appreciate being disrespected like I was. They have lost my business for life. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
