I would: Definitely shop here.
So what? Hmm. Tell you: There's always someone willing to help you, not aisles devoided of employees as in big hardware stores. Unmatched for service.
Big selection of hard to find hardware items and huge selection of plants and the free popcorn is nice
Unmatched for gardening (Mary, the rose lady and the fertilizers found nowhere else in town. The big bag of Baking Soda that nobody else seems to have and more).
I have been several times before, but this one seems to always be lacking. Staff is either non-existent or poorly trained. Items are mislabeled prices. And I pray you never have to ask them if there is stock of a specific item in the store; they will lead you to a computer to check the stock and it will be 18 minutes, two different staff members(a pass off), and a whole bunch of repetitive responses to the same questions before you realize they aren't even looking at in-store inventory anymore and they are trying to get you to order it. Even if you ask for the return policy BEFORE you purchase an item they will small-talk you until you slide your card and THEN when you ask again they will tell you you cannot return items due to misuse of their return policy by OTHER customers. They won't even let you exchange items with the receipt in NEW condition with the tags still on it for store credit. Really? You lose absolutely no money in sales and still no? Rediculous! What made it worse is how short the cashier was with me when I asked. She seemed ready to bite my head off. Geez!
Then I found the plants. Oh, all of the lovely plants.
Admittedly it's been 20 years since I last stepped in (that I can recall - may have been fewer years), and I was hit with a wave of nostalgia. The classic hardware store. I went in search for bolts, and boy did they have them - their selection put the big-box stores to shame.
Ace has the most unique items every time I go in there. Everything is top quality and I have better results with their plants. I don’t have a green thumb so that is saying a lot! I love this place in Orange Park!
New photos: The outstanding 15 dollar Craftsman offset screwdriver.
Ace was here before the big guys. I believe the reason they have survived is written above and much more.
Then there's the free pool water analysis by people who know. The hth quality products and the old time "if-that-doesn't-work-try-this advice."
Hardware: Good stuff that works at competitive prices (where's Ace brand stuff I trusted so much?). Some stuff is a few cents more than the big guys, but I've also seen cheaper items than the big guys.
They also carry Craftsman brand tools.
I honestly don't know why I never went there more, but I think I'm going to correct that immediately.
C'mon, give them your business if only once.
I'm personally not impressed with Stihl, but I'm a homeowner, not a pro. Not sure why Craftsman yard tools are also offered.
They always seem to know what I need.
