My husband after waiting 2 weeks, finally had his CAT scan today. Upon arrival we learned they needed more information for the order. They would have to contact the doctor. Mind you, the hospital had the order for 2 weeks. After waiting over 80 minutes, the order was obtained as needed. We then waited for the tech. Finally, they came for him. The tech said he would have a disc in 5 minutes. After waiting again, I went to the receptionist in radiology and asked her about the disc. She obviously was put out that I would ask for assistance. I am disabled and my husband is also impaired in mobility as he is no weight bearing on his left foot. I use a walker and still have difficulty walking. Seems to me the hospital could have been more prepared with the order that was faxed weeks prior to this appointment. If something was lacking they should have gotten it right prior to us arriving. Seeing that we are both disabled, they could have been of more assistance. We have had issues in the past as well. Wish our doctors would use another hospital. We go where they tell us. We will again share our experiences with our providers. Please better your preparations before your patients arrive. Your patients have all types of medical issues and making things easier on them would be a blessing and not go unnoticed. Hopefully the staff could be educated on patience with people who are ikk. Compassion goes a long way and is appreciated
The labor and delivery unit nurses can't even tell how far you are dilated! I was told I was 8 centimeters by a nurse only to have my doctor say I was at 5. Later the nurse said I was still at 5, so we sent out family home because it we thought it would be awhile. My doctor came in 10 min later and said I was at 10 and ready to push so none of our family was there. I also had problems with the epidural, when I told the nurse I could still feel everything, she condescendingly told me "well you're going to feel a little pressure sweetie" and made me feel bad for pressing the medication button too many times . Then they gave me Pitocin (which I had specifically requested not to be given) to increase contractions without asking me or even telling me they were doing it and I felt it all. The anesthesiologist finally came in after I complained for 3 hours and low and behold... my epidural wasn't in place and they had to give me another one. After my son was born, I had nurses coming in every 30 min to check on me, it was the middle of the night and after more than 24 hours of labor all I wanted to do was sleep and they made that impossible. Meanwhile, during the day, if I needed something like medication or to be shown how to dress baby's circumcision, the nurses took almost 2 hours to respond to the call button. Maybe the other departments are better, but I would not recommend this hospital to anyone having a baby!
I will end this tragic story by telling you my brother made it out 2 days and was admitted to Wachiva mental health center that was as big of a tragedy as Orange Park. This past month of dealing with incompetence and uncaring people has been a nightmare I will never wake up from. I would have rated Orange Park with a negitive Star had it been available ! Shame on this hospital for operating this farce of a mental health facility.
I had a c-section on August 15th at this location and the folks treated me like family. I never had to request anything because they had me taken care of in every way. I would recommend this hospital to anyone. Thank you Orange Park Medical for a wonderful experience. Y'all Rock!!!! Love ya and God Bless.
My brother was admitted to The Orange Park behavior unit on the second floor and from start to finish it was the worst nightmare a family can experience. My husband and I went to meet with the discharge planner Kelly on his second day and when we began to ask her questions concerning his medical care there as he is a lung cancer patient with pneumonia she left the room as she could not answer these questions and from that point on we never saw or heard from her again. They are the most uncaring group of people I have ever had the misfortune to meet and the fact that they are dealing with seriously mental ill people is a tragedy. I went to visit my brother and he told me some of his clothing items had been stolen and when I looked to my left at a family visiting a patient - the patient was wearing my brothers boxer shorts. I Asked the nurse and she said yes they had been stolen along with the sleep pants I brought my brother. He left Orange Park 7days later with out many items he checked in with and no one seemed to care. I think the entire staff have the attitude many people do about the mentally ill-they are a throw away part of society that are not worth the effort. This facility has no business caring for the mentally ill and the staff attitude is that they have 24 beds and not enough of the to do a minimally adequate job. The other thing is I asked every day to set up a appointment with a doctor and was willing to come in whenever they could set it us but they never could do that.
I was going through a miscarriage and luckily got brought into here. I am very skeptical of hospitals due to the fact that I have been misdiagnosed in the past but I had a great experience considering what I was going through. All the staff was very friendly and caring (genuinely). I had Alicia as my PA and she was very sweet and caring and stayed with me the whole time. If I ever have another emergency I won't hesitate coming here.
